The medkit still lay untouched in his desk and Syvar hasn't been able to bring himself to open it. The shame he experienced was immense, especially after his brief talk with the captain. He understood he had quite a road ahead of him since it was made abundantly clear he would be able to carry a weapon in the long run. He just didn't understand where his fear came from and no matter how hard he tried, his memory came up blank.

Engineering settled back into its rhythm. The warp core hummed its steady, luminous blue—soft, constant, alive—filling the room with a warmth that had been missing. T’Luz shifted slightly in her seat, growing uncomfortable as she flew several senior members of the crew toward something every instinct she possessed suggested she should flee from. The flight had thus far been uneventful, if considerably longer than she was accustomed to.

Max had Reruk and the doc relieve T'Luz and Vi for a break on route and insisted they eat. His own stomach growling he happily replicated a slab of lasagne. At least everything in the shuttle seemed to work. And he had last had half a pastry that had attacked him when the gravity had gone whacko that morning.

Was it morning when that had happened? So much had happened in the last 12 hours he was not sure anymore.

Peters stood in front of the warp core. Repairs were complete, but they still needed the core's power to finish the other repairs, especially the warp coils. Final checks were underway before startup. Outwardly, he was an island of calm. Inwardly, he was nervous. He had hoped the PADD had reached Charlie by now.

One of the engineering team approached him. "Sir, we're ready as we'll ever be. Are you sure about this? It's a risk."

Peters nodded "Agreed, but it's a risk we're going to have to take." He took a breath. "Ok, let's begin."
