| Physical Description | T’Luz stands 5’4” with a solid, curvaceous and visibly muscular build. She has fair skin, blue-grey eyes, and auburn hair that falls past her shoulders, though she generally wears it pulled back while on duty. Her mixed Human-Vulcan ancestry is most apparent in her sharply pointed ears and upswept Vulcan brows, while her remaining facial features largely favor her Human ancestry. More heavily built than the typically lean Vulcan physique, T’Luz carries considerable muscle through her shoulders, arms, back and legs, the result of both her naturally greater Vulcan-hybrid strength and more than two decades of physically demanding emergency medical work. Her musculature complements rather than obscures a distinctly curvaceous figure. She carries herself with the straight-backed, deliberate posture characteristic of Vulcans and tends toward economical, purposeful movement. Although usually composed, her face is considerably more expressive than her bearing might suggest. A lifted brow, slight narrowing of the eyes, or particularly dry look frequently communicates an opinion she has elected not to verbalize. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | T’Luz is practical, observant, intensely curious, and exceptionally difficult to rattle. Years in emergency medicine have left her at her calmest when circumstances are at their worst. She is highly adaptable, thinks quickly under pressure, and tends to approach problems by identifying what needs to happen and then simply getting on with it. She is a comfortable mixture of her Human upbringing and Vulcan ancestry. T’Luz values logic, discipline, and emotional control, but sees little purpose in pretending emotions do not exist. By Human standards she can seem reserved; by Vulcan standards she is considerably too expressive. She is comfortable somewhere in between. Her humor is dry, occasionally sarcastic, and usually delivered with such a straight face that people may not immediately realize she is joking. She is compassionate without being particularly sentimental and is far more likely to quietly solve someone’s problem than make a production out of caring. T’Luz respects competence and experience more readily than rank or titles. She understands and respects Starfleet’s chain of command, but has spent most of her adult life as an experienced civilian professional trusted to make her own decisions. Adjusting to life as a junior officer may therefore require some patience on everyone’s part. Above all, she is curious. Science, medicine, languages, history, philosophy, art, and music can all capture her attention, and unanswered questions tend to bother her until she understands them. She isn’t reckless, but “we don’t know what that is” is considerably more likely to make T’Luz move closer than back away. |
|
| Strengths & Weaknesses | T’Luz is calm under pressure, highly adaptable, physically strong, and particularly skilled at triage, emergency management, and logistics. Years of emergency medicine have made her comfortable making rapid decisions with limited information and improvising when ideal solutions are unavailable. Her broad interests also make her good at approaching unfamiliar problems from several directions. Her weaknesses largely come from those same strengths. T’Luz is accustomed to being an experienced professional and may struggle with suddenly being a junior officer expected to defer to people she does not yet trust professionally. She can be impatient with inefficient procedures, has a tendency to try to fix interpersonal problems rather than simply listen, and her intense curiosity sometimes makes it difficult for her to leave an unanswered question alone. She has also picked up the very human bad habit of dodging her mother’s coms, not because she doesn’t love her, but her mother can be… exhausting. |
|
| Ambitions | T’Luz fully intends to advance within Starfleet but has no predetermined destination in mind. Her background in medicine, science, emergency management, and logistics leaves several possible career paths open, and she intends to explore them rather than choose prematurely. She is interested in away missions, scientific exploration, cross-departmental work, and eventually greater responsibility or command. Having already mastered one career, T’Luz sees Starfleet as an opportunity to discover just how much further she can go. | |
| Hobbies & Interests | T’Luz has broad interests including xenobiology, linguistics, history, and philosophy. She enjoys studying both Human and alien cultures and has a particular appreciation for art and music from across the Federation. An intensely curious person, she reads extensively and has a habit of turning a simple question into several hours of entirely unnecessary research simply because she wants to know the answer. |
| Personal History | T’Luz was conceived through a voluntary Human/Vulcan reproductive study using genetic material provided by an anonymous Vulcan donor identified only as V-13370. She was born and raised on Earth by her Human mother, Kelly Brigette Zamora, an educator specializing in ancient Earth history. Although T’Luz had little direct contact with Vulcans growing up, her mother ensured that her heritage was never treated as either a secret or an obligation. She received the equivalent of a Vulcan education through programs intended for Vulcan children living off-world while otherwise attending Human schools and growing up immersed in Human culture. Humans generally proved exceptionally welcoming of her unusual heritage. Her limited experiences with Vulcans were more complicated. T’Luz was often regarded as considerably too Human in temperament and behavior and occasionally found herself treated more as an interesting biological curiosity than as someone with any legitimate connection to Vulcan culture. She learned Vulcan language, history, philosophy, etiquette, and emotional disciplines, but largely at a distance. Rather than attempting to prove herself sufficiently Vulcan, T’Luz became comfortable occupying the space between both species. She considers herself neither divided between two identities nor particularly obligated to choose between them. As a young adult, T’Luz pursued emergency medicine and qualified as a paramedic. She eventually began working aboard civilian warp-capable medical shuttles providing emergency response and transport between colonies, stations, ships, and planetary facilities. What began as a career became the majority of her adult life. Over the following decades she developed extensive experience in trauma care, triage, emergency management, medical logistics, multi-species medicine, and operating in environments where ideal resources were rarely immediately available. The work also made her a competent shuttle pilot and accustomed her to making independent decisions under considerable pressure. T’Luz enjoyed her career and had no particular intention of leaving it. Her interests, however, had always extended well beyond medicine. She studied xenobiology, linguistics, history, and other sciences largely because she found them interesting, often pursuing a question considerably further than was practically necessary simply because she disliked leaving it unanswered. A chance emergency response eventually brought her medical shuttle to a damaged Starfleet craft carrying an injured Vulcan science officer. Their interaction proved a notable exception to most of T’Luz’s previous experiences with Vulcans. He regarded her Human upbringing, Vulcan education, medical career, and unusually broad scientific interests with straightforward curiosity rather than judgment. During treatment, he asked whether she had ever considered Starfleet. The conversation remained with her long after the call ended. T’Luz had already built one successful career and understood it extremely well; for the first time, she began seriously considering whether she wanted the remainder of her professional life to look exactly like the first half. Starfleet offered the opportunity to retain the skills she had spent decades developing while pursuing scientific exploration and operating on a scale unavailable to her as a civilian paramedic. In her early forties, T’Luz applied to Starfleet Academy and began again as a cadet alongside classmates young enough that many had not been born when she first entered emergency medicine. She cross-specialized in science and medicine while developing the broader operational knowledge required of a Starfleet officer. Her previous experience proved useful, although adapting from an established civilian professional accustomed to considerable independence into the most junior levels of a large military-style hierarchy occasionally required adjustment. T’Luz graduated from Starfleet Academy and was commissioned as an Ensign. Rather than viewing Starfleet as a replacement for her previous life, she considers it the beginning of her second career, and one whose eventual direction she has deliberately left open. |
|
| Service Record | Upon graduation from Starfleet academy with high marks and commendations from instructors, T’Luz was commissioned as an Ensign and assigned to the USS Genesis as Chief Operations Officer. Although unusually junior for a department head, her appointment reflects the considerable professional experience she brought into Starfleet from her previous career. Her responsibilities aboard Genesis represent her first permanent Starfleet posting and her first experience serving aboard a Federation starship. Shortly after reporting aboard, T’Luz was selected for her first away mission following a major systems emergency aboard Genesis. Initially tasked only with assembling and delivering mission equipment, her experience with shuttle operations resulted in her being assigned as the away team’s pilot. |
