Mission:
Season 1, Episode 1: Ashes of Wolf 359
Location: Vero's quarters
Timeline: Before mission launch
ON:
The last several weeks had been a complete blur. Max had felt like he had been back at the academy. His new Captain had helped get his bearings operationally. He felt more than ready to rise to the challenge there. But socially, he was the same Max, he knew how to talk to people but he just felt like he was a relic. The few new people he had explained his situation too it felt like he was a novelty to them.
His new quarters were much nicer than the Oberth ones. But they were bare. All his plants had perished. He could of course replicate now pretty much everything and had the essentials but anything of sentimental value was lacking. Of course, these new bigger future ships had much more in them including decent sized abortorium’s. Perhaps he could sweettalk whoever looked after that to allow him some seedlings or clippings and start growing his own again?
He placed the one thing he had picked up – a holographic globe programmed with images of Bologna. Tacky, touristy but a link to home and it also had historical scenes. Then the PADD with lists of new things he had compiled to keep refreshing on his desk. He sat down, and looked out the window. Mars red as ever stared back to him as they orbited.
“The furnishings are softer too,” he muttered to himself.
Perhaps it was time to do what he had been putting off. Perhaps he was ready now. Probably one of the egg head counsellors he had, had to speak with daily for his acclimatisation to this century during the last few weeks would disagree but he decided it was time.
“Computer,” he took a deep breath, “Can you locate any living relatives I still have?”
“Working,” the female voice informed him.
“And look up the life of the Opera singer Alessandro Vero, his wife the Lady Arylana and their 4 children please."
The screen on his desk lit up and his eyes opened wide.
